Miranda King

Miranda King enters her sixth season with the Aggie swimming and diving program as the Head Diving Coach. 

During the 2020-2021 pandemic season, the Aggies competed at two competitions. At the Western Athletic Championships, the two Aggie divers finaled three times as well as made the consolation finals three times.

The 2019-2020 brought a lot of excitement. Ane (Italia) Aranzabal broke the three-meter board school record during a meet in San Antonio with a 314.35. The Aggies finaled in two of three events at the WAC Championships. Italia and Lily Ellis both qualified for the NCAA Zone E Championships, and Miranda had the privilege of coaching Italia at the Diving Olympic Trials for her home country of Mexico where she finished eleventh. Italia was also named WAC Diver of the Week twice during the season.

During the 2018-2019 season, Aggies finaled in three events and had two consolation finalists at the Western Athletic Championships in which Raina Brommer secured a runner-up finish on the three-meter board and a third-place finish in the platform event. Raina also broke the platform school record during the WAC Championship meet with a 239.05. while also having all three divers qualified for the NCAA Zone E Championship meet. MacKinna Hauff earned three Diver of the Week honors for the WAC Conference.

The 2017-2018 season was one for the books as Aggie divers had four Western Athletic Conference Diver of the Week nominations (Raina Brommer with three and MacKinna Hauff with one). Under King’s guidance, Hauff broke the school record for the three-meter board against WAC opponent Idaho.  King coached the divers to numerous dual meet wins, six top-16 finishes and three top-eight finishes at the WAC Championships.  Hauff, Brommer and Sheridan Decker all qualified for the NCAA Zone E Championship meet following the 2017-18 season.

During the 2016-2017 season, King coached the divers to four top-8 finishes at the WAC Championships, including a 2nd place finish for Sheridan Decker on platform.  King had one WAC Diver of the Week nomination with MacKinna Hauff and had two divers (Brommer and Hauff) qualify for the NCAA Zone E Championships.
 
Before joining NM State, King spent two years coaching at Division III Pomona-Pitzer Colleges. At Pomona-Pitzer, King coached the divers on both the men's and women's diving teams. During her time with the Sagehens, King coached two divers who qualified for NCAA Division III Regionals. In addition to her collegiate coaching duties, King was also the assistant diving coach of the Turn N Burn Diving club team for 3 and a half years and spent five years coaching high school diving.
 
A two-time All-American, King competed as a diver at California Baptist University for four years. While at CBU, she was a member of the 2011 NAIA National Championship team as a freshman before the team began the transition to NCAA Division II. Her senior year, after the two-year transition, she qualified for the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Nationals. King received her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from CBU in 2013. She is currently working on her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration at New Mexico State.
 
King is a native of Murrieta, Calif.
