LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State cross country will travel to Santa Clara, Calif. on Saturday for the 2016 Bronco Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara University. The meet is set to take place at Baylands Park. This race will also serve as the final tune up meet before the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Oct. 29 in Seattle, Wash.
Â
"The Bronco Invitational is a fast course with great competition for us," said interim head coach
Joseph Rath. "In the invitational sections, there will be a lot of teams of similar ability levels making for big crowds throughout the majority of the race. We'll try and take advantage of this competition by letting some of these groups carry us to some quicker times."Â
Â
The Men's 8k Invitational race will begin at 10 a.m. MT. The Aggies will be competing against several regionally-ranked teams, including UCLA, Texas Tech, California, UC Santa Barbara and San Jose State among others.
Â
The Women's 6k Invitational race is set to start at 10:45 a.m MT. NM State will be competing against the likes of California, UCLA, Texas Tech, UNLV, Grand Canyon, Loyola Marymount and others.
Â
"It's an exciting race to be in, and we are looking to better our performances here from a year ago. This race will also be our final test run before the WAC conference meet and will help to determine our final selections."
