Day One Results
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Heading into the final round of the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, NM State holds sole possession of fourth place at 574 (+6). As a team, the Aggies have amassed 24 birdies through two rounds and are second in the field in holes for par with 116.
Three of the five starters for NM State sit in the top-15. Freshman
Jack Snyder, competing in his first collegiate event, leads the team after firing a 71-70—141 (-1) which puts him in a tie for sixth place.
Tadhg Campbell was neck and neck with Snyder, 71-71—142 (E), and is tied for 11th.
Luis Medina followed closely behind and shot 73-70—143 (+1), which is good for a tie for 13th.
The three top golfers also fired a collective 18 birdies over the first 36 holes. Campbell contributed seven, Snyder had six and Medina fired five.
Rounding out the Aggie starters was
Isaac Merry who shot 77-73—150 (+8) to tie for 50th and
Arthur Doorn, 75-80—155(+13), who is tied for 73rd.
For the individuals,
Michael McGilton shot 73-73—146 (+4) to tie for 26th place.
Tanvir Kahlon, 72-76—148 (+6), is tied for 35th. With rounds of 78-73—151 (+9),
Davis Chung is tied for 55th and right behind in a tie for 61st is
Matt Corio, 73-79—152 (+10). Completing the Aggie individuals,
Cooper Donahue shot 80-77—157 (+15) which puts him in a tie for 79th.
Heading into the third and final round, Grand Canyon is in first (557), UMKC is in second (569), UTEP is in third (572), NM State is in fourth (574) and Wichita State is in fifth (575).
The final round on Tuesday tees off at 8:15 a.m. MT with a shotgun start.
