Cross Country Regionals Set for Friday

The NM State men’s and women’s cross country team is set to compete on Friday, Nov. 11, at 9 and 10 a.m. (MT).

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The NM State men's and women's cross country team are set to race with some of the region's best at the NCAA Mountain Regionals at the Steve & Dona Reeder Cross Country Course, hosted by Utah State.

The women's 6k race is set to begin at 11 a.m. (MT) while the men's 10k is set to start at noon. For a direct link to the Meet Central link, click here.

"The mountain region is always one of the toughest and deepest regions to compete in," said interim head coach Joseph Rath. "The men's race will feature the first, second, and third ranked teams in the nation. The women's race will also feature the number one ranked team in the nation among a number of other nationally ranked teams. For us, it is exciting to compete in a field of this caliber. We get a chance to rise up to the level of our competition and try to and push and challenge ourselves in a race that is unlike any other we have competed in this year. I know both sides are excited and motivated to cap off their seasons with a strong finish in Logan, Utah"

Competing on the women's side for NM State will be Cassandra Amberg, Crissey Amberg, Nichole Gomez, Corinne Hanson, Regina Marquez, Stephanie Quintero and Julia Yescas. Cr. Amberg was the first Aggie to cross the finish line at the regionals last year, clocking in with a time of 23:05.87 while Marquez checked in with a time of 23:30.61.

On the men's side, Herbert Beyalle III, David Colmenero, Marchez Coriz, Ricardo De Santiago, Eli Kosgei, Marco Perez and Aaron Valenzuela will don the Crimson and White. Colmenero is the top-returner from last year's team that ran at the regionals with Perez (86th), De Santiago (89th) and Valenzuela (95th) rounding things out.
