Christofer Goncalves of the NM State men's tennis team earned his second-straight Western Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Month honor on Wednesday as announced by the league office.

The Barquisimeto, Venezuela product went 8-1 in singles and 7-1 in doubles for the month of October. Goncalves started the month by winning the singles flight at the Balloon Fiesta, and then ran his winning-streak to 12 before falling in the quarterfinals match at the ITA Mountain Regional Championships.

On the doubles front, Goncalves and teammate
Luis Flores saw their 12-match winning-streak come to an end in the semifinal match at the ITA Mountain Regional Championships. The two had swept through their competition two weeks prior at the Balloon Fiesta to claim the doubles flight as well.

With the fall tournaments all wrapped up, the junior finished with a 15-2 mark in singles and 12-3 record in doubles.

The NM State men's tennis team will not take a hiatus before opening dual play on Friday, Jan. 27, at home against Mesa community College before hitting the road for 18-straight road contests. The Aggies begin the defense of their WAC title beginning on Friday, March 24, at Grand Canyon.
