LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State women's basketball guard, Tamera William, was named the College Sports Madness WAC Player of the Week on Monday after leading the women's basketball team through two games this past week, including a win over Battle of I-25 rival, New Mexico. The senior averaged 20.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals over 74 minutes of play.
                                      
This is the second College Sports Madness WAC Player of the Week honor for an Aggies player this season as Brooke Salas earned the recognition last week.
 
William earned her first double-double of the season against New Mexico on Nov. 30, as she dropped 23 points and corralled 12 rebounds. The 77-70 victory over the Lobos saw the guard put up two blocks, one steal and go 12-12 from the free throw line on the night, as well.
 
During the second contest of the week, NM State squared off against Arizona on Dec. 4, as they lost in over-time, 74-63. The contest saw the Las Vegas, Nev. native total 17 points to go along with five rebounds, four steals and another strong night from the line, shooting 9-11.
 
After the week, New Mexico State women's basketball moved to 5-3 on the year. William has started in all eight games and has averaged 12.5 points and 7.1 rebounds and 2.8 steals over that time.
 
After the four-game home stand, the Aggies will now hit the road as they travel to Flagstaff, Ariz. to take on Northern Arizona, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. MT.
