LAS CRUCES – The NM State women's soccer team announced that their 2016 spring schedule will include sixmatches, two of which will be in Las Cruces at the NM State Soccer Complex. The six-match schedule will take place between April 9 and April 24.

New Mexico State will first travel to Albuquerque on Saturday, April 9, for a pair of matches against Fort Lewis and Adams State to open its spring slate. The Skyhawks finished last season at 12-5-4 and placed second in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (8-2-1). FLC reached the RMAC Tournament finals, but fell to Colorado Mines 1-0. However, they earned an at-large bid into the Division II NCAA Tournament where they eventually fell to St. Edwards in a shootout, 4-3.

After a rest, the Aggies will take on the Grizzles of Adams State. ASU was 7-8-3 (3-7-1 RMAC) last season, improving by three wins from the 2014 season.

Times and location for both games are still to be determined.

A week later, NM State travels down I-10 to for two matches in as many days in El Paso, Texas, on April 16-17. First up for the Aggies will be the Sun Devils of Arizona State from the Pac-12 Conference at 2 p.m. The Sun Devils finished in the middle of a very competitive Pac-12 Conference at 5-5-1 and 9-8-1 overall. Arizona State wrapped up its season with a 4-1 win over Territorial Cup rival Arizona, who was ranked No. 23 when they squared off.

The very next day, New Mexico State will square off against another Pac-12 foe in Arizona at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 17. The Wildcats finished last season with an overall record of 14-6-2 and 6-4-1 mark in conference play. UA advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to league-rival, Stanford, 3-0.

On Saturday, April 23, NM State will host its Alumnae game in the, "Pistol Pete 7v7 Shootout," where the current team will be split into two teams, crimson and white. The Crimson team will take on Cochise College at 10:30 a.m. while the white team takes on the alumnae. Then at 12:15, the teams will switch field as the white team takes on Cochise College while the crimson team takes on the alumnae.

The Aggies will then wrap up their spring slate at noon against Eastern New Mexico on Sunday, April 24, at home.
