TUCSON, Ariz. – New Mexico State senior
Kenneth Fadke II continued with his solid play on Monday as he helped lead the Aggies to a 1-over-par 289 in the second round of to the National Invitational Tournament Sunday at the Catalina Course of the Omni Tucson National Resort. The Aggies are alone in ninth at 1-over 577 through the second round.

Fadke, a senior from Hobbs, N.M., fired his second 2-under 70 of the tournament to sit in a tie for eighth at 4-under 140 after two tours of the par 72, 7,200 yard Catalina Course. He picked up birdies on three of his first 11 holes. His only slip on the day came when he bogeyed his final hole, the par 4 18th.

Sophomore Mike McGilton from Chandler, Ariz./Perry, slipped to a tie for 14th after a 1-over 73 on Monday, to head to the final round at 2-under 142. McGilton, who shot a 3-under on Sunday, birdied three holes on the front nine to make the turn at 3-under for the day. But double bogey 6s on the par 4 11th and 18th reeled him back into the pack.

Davis Chung of Las Cruces, N.M./High had the second-best round of the day for NM State with an even-par 72, while sophomore
Isaac Merry of Las Cruces, N.M./Onate was a counter with a 2-over 74. Junior
Luis Medina of Guadalajara, Mexico/Montverde Academy fell back with a 3-over 75 in the second round.

Chung and Medina are part of a group tied at 40th with a 36-hole total of 4-over 148. Merry is three stroke behind them at 7-over 151.

While in ninth at 577, the Aggies are a stroke ahead of UC Davis at 578. NM State is a stroke behind Colorado State at 576 and two in back of UTEP and host Arizona at 575.

Santa Clara leads the team event at 11-under 565, with Nevada in second at 570 and New Mexico third at 572. Wyoming and Iowa State are fourth at 573.

Individually, Iowa State's Nike Voke had the best round of the day, a 7-under 65, to vault to the top of the leaderboard at 11-under 133. Santa Clara's Hayden Shieh posted an even-par 72 for a 10-under 134 a stroke back, with UTEP's Frederik Dreier carding a 5-under 67 to move into third at 8-under 136.

The Aggies start the final round of the NIT once again in the first groupings off the No. 1 tee at 8 a.m. NM State plays with Colorado State and Arizona at the Omni Tucson National course.
