TUCSON, Ariz. – New Mexico State senior
Kenneth Fadke II collected his first top 10 finish of this season as he led the New Mexico State Aggies to a 10th place finish overall at the 2016 National Invitational Tournament Sunday at the Catalina Course of the Omni Tucson National Resort.

A senior from Hobbs, N.M., Fadke toured the 7,200-yard Catalina layout in even par 72 to finish at 4-under 212.

The Aggies posted a 6-over 294 in the final round as a team to finish at 7-over 872, one stroke ahead of Stephen F. Austin at 872 in 11th and three behind UC Davis at 4-over 867 in ninth.

Fadke got a birdie on the second hole to go to 5-under for the tournament. But back-to-back bogeys on the par 3 seventh and par 5 eighth set the senior back to 3-under overall. He played parred the next five holes before getting a birdie 3 on the par 4 14th to return to even for the round and 4-under overall. He finished the round with pars on the next four holes.

Sophomore Mike McGilton from Chandler, Ariz./Perry, carded a 1-over 73 in the final round to just miss a top 20 finish. His 1-under 215 tied for 21st individually.

Freshman
Davis Chung of Las Cruces, N.M./High matched McGilton in the final round with a 1-over 73 to finish the tournament in a tie for 40th at 5-over 221. Junior
Luis Medina of Guadalajara, Mexico/Montverde Academy shot a 4-over 76 in the final round for an 8-over 224, while sophomore
Isaac Merry of Las Cruces, N.M./Onate added a five-over 77 to finish at 228.

Santa Clara won the title after a 7-under team round of 281 on Tuesday. The Broncos were at 18-under 846, six strokes ahead of second place New Mexico at 12-under 852 and seven better than the third place tie of Wyoming and UTEP at 11-under 853.

Individually, the top spot was shared by Iowa State's Nick Voke and UNM's Gustavo Morantes at 11-under 205, one stroke ahead of Santa Clara's Hayden Shieh in third at 10-under 206.

The Aggies are in action again on Friday and Saturday, March 11 and 12, when they visit Laredo, Texas to compete in the Border Olympics at the Laredo Country Club.
