TUCSON, Ariz. – The New Mexico State Aggies played three steady rounds on the way to an 11th place finish at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational on Tuesday.

The Aggies posted rounds of 297, 302 and 297 for a final score of 896, three strokes better than 12th place Kansas at 899 and one stroke behind Colorado in 10th at 895. New Mexico placed 15th at 911.

NM State was paced by the play of junior
Camille Orito from Fresno, Calif./Clovis West, who tied for 25th individually at 6-over-par 222. Orito carded a 2-over 74 in the final round on Tuesday, after recording an even-par 72 and a 4-over 76 on Monday.

The best round of the tournament came on Tuesday from sophomore
Kennedie Montoya of Thatcher, Ariz., who toured the par 72, 6,492 yard Sewailo Golf Club layout in 2-under 70. She chalked up rounds of 78 and 75 on Monday to finish tied for 30th at 7-over 223.

Viviana Macias from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, slipped a bit on Tuesday with a 6-over 78 after posting rounds of 3-over 75 and 2-over 74 on Monday. Vivi Macias finished with a 227.

Kacey Dalpes of Alamogordo, N.M., and junior
Valeria Macias of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico both finished at 231 for the 54 holes. Dalpes carded a 78-77-76, while Vale Macias shot a 72-82-77.

Host Arizona won the team competition with a three-round score of 7-under 857, with Arizona State second at 4-over 868 and UNLV third at 876.

Individually, Arizona's Krystal Quihuis won the event at 7-under 209, a just ahead of the ASU duo of Linnea Strom at 6-under 210 in second and Monica Vaughn at 5-under 211.

The Aggies stay in Tucson to compete again on Friday and Saturday at the MountainView Collegiate at the MountainView Golf Club, co-hosted by Kansas State and Missouri.
