FRESNO, Calif. – The New Mexico State Aggies put up a solid 297 in the final round to place fifth at the Fresno State Classic at the San Joaquin Country Club Tuesday.
The Aggies posted a 298-297--595 to finish three strokes ahead of Nevada in sixth at 598 and three strokes behind Santa Clara in fourth at 592.
The Aggies were paced by the play of senior
Kacey Dalpes of Alamogordo, N.M., who fired an even-par 72 in the final round to pair with Monday's 74 finishing in a sixth place tie at 2-over-par 146.
Dalpes toured the par 72, 6,119-yard San Joaquin CC course with three birdies and three bogeys for the even-par round.
"Kacey played extremely well," said NM State head coach
Jackie Booth. "I was happy to see her game come together for her this week."
Senior
Viviana Macias from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and junior
Camille Orito from Fresno, Calif./Clovis West, were part of a tie for 21 at 5-over-par 149. Macias put up a 3-over 75 in the final round to go with a first round 2-over 74. Orito shot a 1-over 73 on Tuesday to go with Monday's 76.

Valeria Macias of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, carded a 74-77--151 and junior
Kristen Cline of Soccoro, N.M., added a 78-82--160 for the Aggies.
"The problem today was that our birdie putts did not fall," said Booth. "We had eight less birdies today and still shot one shot better than yesterday."
"We are getting better every tournament and look forward to playing in two tournaments during spring break in Tucson."
Host Fresno State won their classic with a 1-over 577, eight strokes ahead of Boise State at 285 in second. Cal State Fullerton was third at 588.
Individually, Santa Clara's Annie Freman fired a 3-under 69 in the final round to win at 8-under 136, three better than Fresno State's Gudrun Bjorgvinsdottir and Boise State's Genevieve Ling in second with a 5-under 139.
NM State returns to competition next Monday at the Wildcat Invitational at the Sewailo Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz.
