LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State sophomore
Pascal Siakam announced Tuesday that he has declared for the NBA Draft.

Siakam, the 6-9, 230 pound All-American forward for the Aggies from Douala, Cameroon, said that he wanted to make the declaration to evaluate his professional opportunities. In accord with NCAA Proposal No. 2015-32 that was adopted in January 2016, Siakam does not plan hire an agent so that he can maintain his NCAA eligibility.

The unanimous choice as 2016 Western Athletic Conference Player of Year, Siakam was named as an honorable mention AP All-America Team, as well as named to the Lou Henson Award All-America Team. He was selected All-District by both the NABC and USBWA, a finalist for the Lou Henson Award as mid-major player of the year and a finalist for the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Siakam led the nation with 27 double-doubles in 2015-16. He averaged 20.3 points, 11.6 rebounds and blocked 2.24 shots a game in 2015-16, ranking eighth in rebounding, 26th in scoring and 32nd in blocked shots. He led the 22 NCAA Division I players averaging a double-double in scoring and was the only one that averaged more than 20 points a game.

Siakam collected 690 points on the season, the second most in a season in NM State history. He also posted the third-best rebounding season in Aggie history with 396 boards, which was the fourth-best single season performance in WAC history. He also notched the third best season in school history with 76 blocked shots.

In just two seasons, Siakam scored 1,126 points to rank 21st on the Aggie career scoring chart, and equals the fourth-best two-year total in NM State history. His 658 career rebounds rank 15th all-time in Aggie history and is the third-best two-year total in school annals.
