BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The NM State men's tennis team was honored by the Western Athletic Conference on Thursday at the awards banquet prior to the start of the conference championship.

Sophomore
Christofer Goncalves led the way for NM State earning First-Team All-WAC accolades after posting a 21-9 overall singles mark and 11-7 record in dual play. The Barquisimeto, Venezuela, native continued where he left off last season as a freshman where he earned WAC Freshman of the Year honors.

The trio of
Strahinja Trecakov,
Stijn de Haan and
Liam Goldberg were named Second-Team All-WAC after leading NM State to its second-straight Western Athletic Conference regular-season title – tying with Grand Canyon and Missouri-Kansas City.

NM State's No. 3 doubles team of
Enrique Asmar and
Mauri Benitez was also named to the Second-Team All-WAC doubles team after posting a 4-3 mark and 3-1 record in WAC play at the No. 3 slot.

The Aggies finished the regular season 10-9 and 4-1 in WAC play, finishing in a three-way tie for first in conference play with GCU and UMKC.

As the No. 2-seeded, NM State is slated to square off against the No. 3-seed and host, UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, April 30, at 8 a.m. (MT).
