LUBBOCK, Texas – The New Mexico State Aggies are 12th after the first two rounds of the Red Raider Invitational at The Rawls Course on the Texas Tech campus on Friday.

The Aggies posted a first round 301 and followed it with a second round 302 to close the first day at 603. NM State is three strokes behind Texas State in 11th at 600, four behind Cal Poly in 10th at 599 and 18 strokes ahead of Tulsa in 13th.

NM State paced on Friday by the play of the Macias sisters from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Senior Viviana bounced back from a shaky start in the first round to shoot a 3-over-par 75 in the first round, then followed it with a 2-over 74 in the second on the par 72, 6,541-yard Rawls Course for a 5-over 149. Junior Valeria notched a 4-over 76 in the first round before tallying three birdies in an up-and-down 2-over 74 second round to total 6-over 150.

Kacey Dalpes of Alamogordo, N.M., fired a 7-over 151 for day one after a 4-over 76 in the opening round with a 3-over 75 in the second. Sophomore
Kennedie Montoya of Thatcher, Ariz., shot a 2-over 74 on her first loop, but added a 7-over 79 in the second to sit at 9-over 153.

Camille Orito from Fresno, Calif./Clovis West, tallied a 158 with a 78 in the first round and an 80 in the second.

No. 25 BYU leads the team race after day one with a two-round total of 1-under 575. No. 41 Purdue is second at even-par 576 with Kansas third at 577.

Individually, KU's Yupaporn Kawinpakorn has a three-stroke lead at 7-under 137. Kawinpakorn fired a 6-under 66 in the second round to go with a 1-under 71 in the first. Kansas State's Katherine Gravel-Coursol is second with a pair of 70s to total 4-under 140, with Purdue's Anna Appert Lund and Texas Tech's Sarah Brown tied for third at 2-under 142.

The tournament's final round is Saturday, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Mountain. The Aggies are paired with Cal Poly and Texas State, opening play from the 12th to 15th holes.
