INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NM State women's golf and women's tennis teams were honored by the NCAA with the Public Recognition Award for the 2014-15 academic year. The award is presented to Division I teams with Academic Progress Rates in the top-10 percentile of their respective sports.
Â
"Perfection is always a goal we strive to achieve and when that triumph is reached, it's a very special feeling," said Associate AD,
James Hall. "Our women's tennis and women's golf programs have done just that, earning a perfect Academic Progress Rate (APR) score of 1000 this past academic year. We're extremely proud of their academic achievements and know they will continue to represent NM State with exceptional academic excellence for years to come."
Â
This is the second-straight year the women's tennis team has been honored with the award and the first time for women's golf since the 2010-11 academic season. Women's tennis is the fifth program in school history to have garnered the award in back-to-back years.
Â
Overall, the Aggies have had 12 teams honored since the award was given out for the 2004-05 season. Both men's and women's golf are tied for the school lead with three apiece, while women's tennis, softball and men's cross country have each earned the award twice.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. It also measures eligibility, graduation and retention each term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in every sport.
