COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –
Isaac Merry led NM State to a 12th place finish at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational on Sunday. Playing at the par-72 Eisenhower Golf Club – Blue Course, Merry finished in a tie for 30th to lead the Aggies.
Merry recorded rounds of 72, 72 and 81 to finish the tournament nine-over (225.) The junior paced the team with a 75.0 stroke average.
Mike McGilton fired a team-best 76 in the third round and finished in a tie for 42nd (227).
Luis Medina was four strokes behind McGilton and tied for 58th (231). The senior recorded a 70 in the second round which was the best individual score for the Aggies.
Tadhg Campbell shot a 78 in the final round and finished in 76th (236).
Davis Chung also fired a 78 on Sunday and completed the invitational tied for 77th (237).
Matt Corio competed as an individual and shot a personal-best 80 in the final round to finish tied for 88th (244).
The Aggies finished the tournament 49-over (913) which put them two strokes behind Air Force for 12th place.
UTEP and UNLV tied for the team title and each team shot one-under (863), after three rounds of play.
The Aggies take a week off before competing at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, Sept. 22-24 in Albuquerque, N.M. at the UNM Championship Golf Course.
