LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State doubles teams of Gabrielle Joyce and Rebecca Keijzerwaard and Lindsay Harlas and Vanessa Valdez each won their respective flights on Sunday at the Aggie Invitational to conclude the three-day tournament.
 
Not having lost a single game in doubles play all weekend, the NM State duo of Joyce and Keijzerwaard was finally tested in the doubles white flight finals by Grand Canyon's Tatum Prudhomme and Susan Baklini. The Aggies' tandem was forced into a tiebreak after GCU's pair rallied back, but it wasn't enough as Joyce and Keijzerwaard walked away with the 9-8 win.
 
The Aggies' team of Harlas and Valdez had a much easier day on the courts as they bested the mixed doubles team of Ruth Copas from UNM and Eli Arnaudova of NM State 8-5 to claim the white flight title.
 
Fanni Novak and Sarah Van Eeckhoudt fought courageously in the silver flight, but couldn't pull off the win over Grand Canyon's Marie Deleval and Mya Entienne and fell 8-6.
 
In singles action, Valdez couldn't quite get in rhythm on her court as she fell to the 'Lopes' Prudhomme 6-4, 6-4. In the white singles flight, Harlas, Arnaudova and Keijzerwaard each earned victories in their respective matches. Arnaudova and Keijzerwaard won in two while Harlas needed a third set. Van Eeckhoudt squared off with GCU's Emilia Occhipinte in the silver singles flight, but was outdueled 6-2, 6-0.
 
The NM State women's tennis team will get a few days to train before taking off to the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Arizona, Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
