ALBUQUERQUE - The New Mexico State track and field team competed in the first day of the Cherry and Silver Invitational on Friday.

Akuadasou Ezenyilimba set new personal records at the meet. The trio's personal bests rank in the top performances all-time at NM State.

Larry Carmichael said. "We had many athletes set new personal records at today's meet."
In the field events, Wilson jumped a personal best 1.70m (5-7) in the high jump to claim third place in the event. The jump puts the freshman in a four-way tie for second place in the New Mexico State record books.
Kayli Farmer placed seventh in the event as she cleared 1.60m (5-3). Cole finished in fifth place in the long jump. After making the event finals with a jump of 5.58m (18-3.5), Cole jumped 5.79m (19-0) for a new personal record. She currently ranks third in the NM State indoor record books. Ezenyilimba placed seventh in the weight throw as the senior threw a personal best 16.98m (55-8.5) in the event. She is seventh all-time at NM State in the event.
On the track, three athletes qualified for event semifinals on Saturday.
Arniesha Mitchell qualified in the 60m hurdles as she ran 9.15 in the event. In the 60m dash,
Tanisha Scott ran 7.73 for a new personal record. Lashira Tremble ran 7.65 in the event. Both athletes qualified for event semifinals.
"Tomorrow, we have athletes competing in events for the first time this season," Carmichael said. "I'm excited to see how our team performs."
The Cherry and Silver Invitational concludes on Saturday (Jan. 21). The meet begins with the women's shot put at 10 a.m. MT.
