Day One at the Arizona Intercollegiate Wraps Up Early

The first day of competition at the Arizona Intercollegiate was called early due to darkness as NM State sits in 14th

TUCSON, ARIZ. – The first day of the Arizona Intercollegiate at Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. was called after just over a round and a half due to darkness. Most golfers had completed at least 13 holes in round two and the remaining holes, as well as the final round, will be completed tomorrow.

As the horn signaled the end of competition for the day, the Aggies sat in 14th place after shooting 525 (+52).

Jack Snyder leads NM State after shooting a 78 (+7) in the first round and a 59 (+4) through the next 14 holes, which put the freshman in a tie for 45th. Luis Medina sits one stroke behind Snyder after posting a 75 (+4) in round one, followed by a 62 (+8) over 14 holes in the second round to put Medina in a tie for 51st.

Isaac Merry fired an 83 (+12) to begin the day and then led the team through the majority of round two, putting up a 59 (+3), with four holes to go. The solid play from Merry put the junior in a tie for 67th.

Freshman Ryo Harada is making his first career appearance as an Aggie and has shot an 80 (+9) in round one, followed by a 61 (+9) over 13 holes in round two. Davis Chung is currently tied with Harada, as he shot an 83 (+12) over the first 18 holes, followed by a 61 (+6) through 14 holes, before competition was called.  

After the first day of competition, Oregon holds sole possession of first place with a score of 517 (+16), California sits in second at 516 (+20), while Washington closes out the top three at 490 (+21).

The remaining holes from round two, as well as the entirety of round three, which complete the Arizona Intercollegiate, will begin tomorrow at 7:45 a.m. MT.
