SALT LAKE CITY – The New Mexico State women's tennis team wrapped up the first day of action at the ITA Regional Championships on Wednesday at the Eccles Tennis Center.

The Aggie duo of
Lindsay Harlas and
Yadira Rubio moved onto the next round in doubles action Wednesday after they ousted Boise State's pair 8-6. NM State's
Rebecca Keijzerwaard and fellow countryman
Quinty Janssen paired up once again, but weren't able to play past Denver's team, 8-5.
Eli Arnaudova and
Vanessa Valdez had a close match as well, but fell to BYU's tandem 8-6.

In the top half of the singles bracket, Valdez advanced to the round of 32 Wednesday after her 6-3, 6-1 over Idaho State's Megan Poe. Arnaudova was tested in the second set, but battled back to take down Wyoming Sarsha Challa 7-5, 2-6, 6-3.

Janssen didn't quite get past her foe in the round of 64 and fell too Lucia Baldilllos. Rubio fought hard in the second set against the Vandal's Maggie Chen, but ultimately fell 6-4, 4-6, 6-0.

Keijzerwaard dropped her opening match in to Idaho's Shion Watabe 6-2, 6-1 while Harlas received a bye in the bottom half of the singles bracket.

Singles play is scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m. (MT) on Thursday following the conclusion of doubles play at the Eccles Tennis Center.
