LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's golf team completed the three-round Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate at the NMSU Golf Course on Tuesday. After 54 holes of play, the Aggies finished in second place with a team score of 848 (-4).
Team play was led by
Michael McGilton who finished in third on the individual leaderboard after firing a 68-69-68—205 (-8). McGilton led NM State and finished second in the field with 13 birdies.
Tadhg Campbell tied for seventh with scores of 67-72-74—213 (E).
Isaac Merry posted a 71-72-74—217 (+4) which placed the Aggie in a tie for 19
th. Freshman
Taylor Stote had his best personal round on day three of 71 to bring his total to 220 (+7) and finish tied for 33
rd.
Jack Snyder rounded out the NM State starters with scores of 74-69-78—221 (+8) to tie for 38
th.
The Aggie individuals saw
Davis Chung finish in a tie for 30
th at six-over, 219, followed closely behind by
Ryo Harada who tied for 38
th after firing a 221 (+8).
Tyler Svendson shot a 224 (+11) which put the rookie in a tie for 46
th.
Another NM State freshman,
Thomas Tulk, shot a 73-78-75—226 (+13) to tie for 58
th.
Arthur Doorn and
Tanvir Kahlon each fired a 229 (+16) which tied the Aggies at 64
th and
Cooper Donahue posted a 230 (+17) to place in a tie for 67
th.
Grand Canyon took home first place with a team total of 832 (-20), followed by NM State at 848 (-4) and UTEP completed the top-three with a score of 850 (-2).
NM State men's golf is back in action at the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational, Oct. 20-22, in El Paso, Texas to close out the fall season.
