Aggies Prepare for Final Regular-Season Match Against UTRGV

New Mexico State women’s soccer prepares for final regular-season match against UTRGV.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's soccer team heads to the Lone Star State as it prepares to battle UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. (MT) in the final regular-season match of 2017.

AGGIES DEFEAT CHICAGO STATE

New Mexico State defeated Chicago State, 8-0, on Friday afternoon to claim its third win in Western Athletic Conference play.
In the 28th minute of action, senior Devin Hart scored the first goal for the Aggies and taking the early 1-0 lead.
At 31:31, Aileen Galicia found the back of the net following a pass from Hart. NM State held on to the 2-0 lead at halftime.
Galicia would get the ball in the net two more times in the second half (57:06 and 71:29) to extend the Aggies' lead to 4-0. With her three goals, Galicia recorded her first hat-trick of 2017.
With assistance from Alexandria Otero, Hart scored her 10th goal of the season in the 76th minute of play.
At 80:11, Hart made a pass to senior Danielle Smith and recorded her first goal of the season.
Hart tallied her first hat-trick of the 2017 campaign when Otero passed the ball to Hart and found the back of the net to score her third goal of the match.
In the remaining minutes of the match, Amy Gulczynski made a pass to Samantha Afonso and got the ball into the net. With the goal, NM State sealed the 8-0 win over the Cougars.

NM STATE FALLS TO UMKC IN FINAL HOME GAME OF 2017

The Aggies came up shy of the win on Sunday afternoon after being dealt a 1-0 loss by UMKC.
At 33:26, UMKC's Lexi Howard shot the ball around Aggie goalkeeper Dmitri Fong, setting NM State back, 1-0.
Despite the loss, New Mexico State secured a spot in the 2017 WAC Tournament that will take place in Phoenix, Ariz.

NM STATE SENIORS HONORED

In the last home match of the season, the Aggies honored seniors Cristina Bertoldo, Devin Hart and Danielle Smith. The veterans have combined for 150 games in their collegiate careers.
Hart's final season as an Aggie consists of 11 goals with two of them being game-winning goals, 21 shots-on-goal and eight assists.
Bertoldo came to NM State as a junior college transfer and has played a significant role on the defensive line. The team captain has clocked a total of 1,491 minutes of action thus far in 2017 and tallied two shots-on-goal that came against CSU Bakersfield (Oct. 6).
Smith recorded her first goal of the season during the Chicago State match. She also has a season-high three shots-on-goal, which were during the Oct. 2 game against Arizona Christian.

FINAL REGULAR-SEASON MATCH: NM STATE AT UT RIO GRANDE VALLEY

New Mexico State heads to the Lone Star State as it prepares to battle UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, Oct. 28, for the final regular-season game. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. (MT).
UTRGV is led by fifth-year head coach Glad Bugariu. The team currently has an overall record of 8-7-3 and 3-2-1 in Western Athletic Conference play.
The Aggies currently hold an all-time record of 2-1-0 against UTRGV.
