Pun Chanachai earn WAC Women's Golfer of the Month after record-breaking play through two events to open the season.
Fresh off winning WAC Freshman and Player of the Year in 2016, Chanachai did not skip a beat at the beginning of the 2017 season. In the first event of the year, the Hobble Creek Fall Classic, the sophomore led the Aggies to a first place finish while she also took home individual medalist honors shooting a 69-66-69—204 (-9).
That play was followed up with another first place finish for the team and individual medalist honors for Chanachai at the Col. Wollenberg's Ram Classic. The golfer had an outstanding performance firing 72-63-70—205 (-11). With a second round score of 63, Chanachai set a Ptramigan Country Club course record, NM State program record, and WAC record.
With a dominant start to the season, the Aggie is currently ninth in the Golfstat Cup rankings and 15th in the Golfweek Individual Rankings.
NM State women's golf is back in action at home for the NM State Aggie Invitational, Oct. 9-11, at the NMSU Golf Course.
