DENVER – New Mexico State volleyball's Tatyana Battle was named the Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. This is her first WAC Player of the Week honor this season and the second of her career.
Battle led NM State to a 2-0 record with straight-set wins over Utah Valley and Seattle U while helping the Aggies keep sole possession of first place in the WAC standings. She averaged 4.17 digs, 4.00 kills, 0.83 blocks and 0.50 service aces per set. The outside hitter also posted back-to-back double-doubles in the victories. She started the week with 10 kills, 15 digs and two blocks in against UVU and followed the impressive performance with a match-high 14 kills, 10 digs, three blocks and three service aces against SU. The junior currently ranks ninth in the WAC in kills (3.13) and 10th in points (3.54).
This is the second time this season New Mexico State volleyball has earned WAC Player of the Week honors. Kassandra Tohm took home the first award for NM State this season on Oct. 16.
The Aggies close out the regular season this week with road matches at Grand Canyon on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m. (MT) and CSU Bakersfield on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m.
