STANFORD, CALIF. – The first round of the Peg Barnard Invitational in Stanford, Calif. came to a close on Saturday as the New Mexico State women's golf team sits in a tie for eighth place out of 12 teams.
As a squad, the Aggies shot a round total of 303 (+19) as their 57 holes for par are good for third on the board. Individual play for the Aggies features two golfers sitting in the top-20.
Kristen Cline and
Kennedie Montoya each fired a first round score of 75 (+4) which put them in a tie for 20th. Cline leads the team with two birdies, while Montoya is tied for second out of 60 golfers after shooting 14 of her 18 holes for par.
Following just behind,
Pun Chanachai finished with a first day score of 76 (+5) which put the Aggie in a tie for 27th. In her first career event as an NM State golfer, freshman transfer
Dominique Galloway shot a 77 (+6) to head into Sunday tied for 33rd. Rounding out the group,
Camille Orito shot a 78 (+7) as she sits in a tie for 41st.
Heading into the final round of 18 holes, host and top-ranked Stanford holds a comfortable lead in first with a score of 286 (+2), followed by no. 43 Oregon at 292 (+8) and no. 39 Colorado with a total of 293 (+9) to round out the top-three.
Sunday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. MT.
