DENVER–  New Mexico State's Kelsey Horton was named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week as announced by the league on Monday. 

"Kelsey showed a lot of poise last weekend and was clutch when we needed her to be," associate head coach Catherine Heifner said. "I am confident she will keep working her process."

Horton started all three games over the weekend for the Aggies. The sophomore had an extra base hit and an RBI in each of the Aggies' three game, including two doubles and a home run in the team's final game against UTSA.

She tallied a .667 batting average over the weekend to lead the team. Horton hit three doubles, two home runs and had four RBIs over the three game span. Horton finished the series with a 1.667 slugging percentage and a .727 on-base percentage.

NM State gets ready as the Aggies host the Troy Cox Classic. New Mexico State opens against Northern Colorado on Thursday with the first pitch at 6 p.m. (MT).
