REDHAWKS VISIT THE PAN AM
Seattle U will make its annual visit to the Pan American Center on Saturday, Feb. 25, as NM State holds its Hall of Fame night, honoring four former Aggie standouts. The Redhawks were riding a three-game losing streak heading into this week's road swing for SU, but managed to walk away with the 86-77 victory.
Brenden Westendorf continues to pace Seattle U, averaging 14.9 points per game to go with his team-high 102 assists and 49 steals. Aaron Menzies is second on the team in scoring 12.3 points per game with a team-best 6.1 rebounding average. Zachary Moore and William Powell are neck-and-neck in the scoring column for SU, checking in at 10.9 and 10.8 points per game, respectively. Powell is second on the team on the glassing with 5.3 boards per game while Manny Chibuogwu averages 4.2 boards per game.
Outside of Westendorf (14.3 ppg) leading the Redhawks in conference play, the scoring column for Seattle U has a different look to it. Matej Kavas is SU's second-leading scorer in WAC play with 12.8 points per game while Moore rounds out the double-digit scorers with 12.7 points per game.
LAST TIME OUT
NM State had its 23-game home winning-streak snapped this past Thursday to Utah Valley, 84-72. The loss also put a halt to a 39 winning-streak at home in conference play also. As good as NM State was shooting in the first half (50%) from the floor in the first half, it struggled just as bad in the second half from the floor. The Aggies managed to shoot just 27.8-percent (10-of-36) from the floor in the second half before finishing at 38.6-percent.
UP NEXT
The Aggies will host UT Rio Grande Valley next Saturday, March 4, for both its final game of the regular-season and senior day. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. with the Aggie basketball program honoring its seniors prior to first tip (subject to change).
