PEORIA, Ariz. – The New Mexico State women's golf team completed the 54-hole Westbrook Spring Invitational in Peoria, Ariz. on Monday. After three rounds of play, the Aggies finished in sixth place out of 13 teams after posting a final score of 874 (+10).
Kristen Cline led the way for the Aggies as the senior posted totals of 67-78-69—214 (-2) and finished in a tie for sixth place. Cline finished with a team-leading 10 birdies and 37 holes for par.
Pun Chanachai was second for NM State, tying for 27th, after scores of 72-77-71—220 (+4). Just behind Chanchai, freshman
Dominique Galloway tied for 37th with a three-round total of 222 (+6).
Finishing within one stroke of one another,
Camille Orito finished in a tie for 44th and
Kennedie Montoya tied for 47th with scores of 224 (+8) and 225(+9), respectively. Competing as an individual,
Maria Prado posted a three-round total of 227 (+11) to place in tie for 52nd.
As a team, the Aggies posted the best stroke average of all 13 teams on the par 4 at 4.05. The squad ultimately finished with 38 birdies and 176 holes for par over the invitational.
After the two-day event, Kansas State took home first place honors with a score of 861 (-3), Ohio State and Kansas tied for second at 865 (+1), Illinois came in fourth posting a three-round total of 871 (+7) and Iowa rounded out the top-five at 873 (+9).
Next up for the Aggies is the Mountain View Collegiate, March 10-12, at the Mountain View Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.
