ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico State women's indoor track and field team wrapped up at the New Mexico Classic on Saturday. Â

"Overall, we were pleased with the results today," co-interim head coach
Larry Carmichael said. "We feel like we are moving in the right direction as a team."

Katara Nelson impressed in her first attempt at the 400m run this season. The senior clocked in for a team best 57.41. She currently leads the WAC in the event.

The Aggies saw many athletes set season records in the mile.
Crissey Amberg set a new personal best as she placed fifth among collegiate athletes and seventh overall. She finished with a time of 5:07.05.
Cassey Amberg (5:14.12),
Julia Yescas (5:14.22), Elana Kresl (5:17.89), and
Stephanie Quintero (5:23.63) also set season records in the event.

New Mexico State dropped its time in the 4x400m race. The team, made up of Nelson,
Tanisha Scott,
Kim Rossen, and
Savannah Coleman, finished with a time of 3:55.94. The time is currently the best in the WAC this season.

In the triple jump,
Hannah Smith jumped her best mark in the event this season. The sophomore jumped 11.80m (38-8.75) to take eighth in the event.

In its next meet, NM State travels back to Albuquerque for the Don Kirby Invite. The two day meet starts on Friday (Feb. 10).
