LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Winners of two-straight at home to start the spring, the New Mexico State women's tennis team will entertain the visiting Cougars of Houston for a 10 a.m. match-up on Sunday, Feb. 12, at the NM State Tennis Court. Admission is free for all fans.

Sunday's contest will be the first time the Aggies and Cougars have faced off in 11 years. UH came out on top the last time these two programs battled in Las Cruces, 6-1.

SNEAK PEAK AT UH
Houston opened its season with a 4-2 loss to UT Arlington, an eventual opponent for NM State, at home before picking up its first win of the dual season against Prairie View A&M 4-0 on the same day. UH picked up its second win of the year when it took down Abilene Christian 5-2, who the Aggies will play in the first week of March. The Cougars' second loss of the year came at the hands of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a tightly contest match, 4-3.

Sveva Mazzari paces UH in the singles department with a 3-1 mark at the No. 2 position while its top singles player, Tsveta Dimitrova is 2-0 on the year. Positions 3-6 are split between two players in each flight with the No. 4 and No. 6 singles positions earning a 2-1 mark compared to the No. 3 and No. 5 positions who are 1-3 on the year.

In doubles action, Dimitrova and Cristina Rovira are 2-0 on the year while every other doubles pair boasting a 1-0 mark or 1-1 mark. UH's No. 1 doubles teams are 3-1 on the year followed by its No. 2 doubles tandems at 2-1. Lauren Alter and Ana Glumac are the only Cougar doubles team to have a result at No. 3 doubles, checking in with a 1-0 mark.

AGGIES OFF TO THE LONE STAR STATE
After hosting Houston at home on Sunday, the NM State women's tennis team will get almost two weeks off before flying to the Lone Star State for three matches (Feb. 24-26). The Aggies first battle North Texas on Friday, Feb. 24, before taking a short hop over to Arlington, Texas, for a pair of matches against Stephen F. Austin and UT Arlington. Two week later, NM State returns to Texas for a match at Abilene Christina (March 8).
