DENVER – Kristen Cline was named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday. The senior led the Aggies to a sixth place finish against strong competition in Peoria, Ariz. at the Westbrook Spring Invitational.
 
The Aggie senior played her best golf of the season and finished in 6th in a field of 76 individuals at the Westbrook Spring Invitational with totals of 67-78-69--214 (-2). The impressive play featured 10 birdies on a challenging par-72 course.
 
This was the second top-10 and fifth top-25 finish of the year for Cline as she posted season-best scores on both 18 and 54-hole rounds.  
 
The Socorro, N.M. native tied her best finish (6th) of 2016-17 against one of the toughest fields this team has seen in both teams and individuals. Cline led NM State to finish just behind three top-50 teams in Illinois (no. 29), Kansas State (no. 47) and Ohio State (no. 28) while also finishing ahead of three-higher ranked opponents including the tournament host no. 38 Wisconsin, according to Golfstat.
 
This was the first WAC Golfer of the Week honor for Cline this season and the second for NM State (Pun Chanachai, Feb. 15), through two events.
 
Kristen Cline and the Aggies will be back on the links, March 10-12, at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz.
