TUCSON, Ariz. – The New Mexico State women's golf team completed day one of the MountainView Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz. on Friday. After the opening round of play, the Aggies sit in second place out of 13 teams with a team score of 289 (+1).
Play for NM State features three Aggies posting top-20 scores. Pun Chanachai and Camille Orito lead the way for the team as they are each tied for sixth place with a first round score of 70 (-2). Chanachai and Orito combined for 10 of the teams 14 birdies with five apiece.
Another Aggie in the top-20 is freshman Dominique Galloway who posted a first round total of 73 (+1). Kristen Cline put up a 76 (+4) as she sits in a tie for 44th, while Maria Prado posted a 77 (+5) to finish day one tied for 49th.
Kennedie Montoya, competing as an individual, had an 18-hole total of 74 (+2) to complete the day tied for 25th.
Heading into Saturday's second round of competition, Arizona sits in first place with a score of 278 (-10), followed by the Aggies in second with a total of 289 (+1) and UNLV in third at 290 (+2).
