TUCSON, Ariz. – The New Mexico State women's golf team wrapped up the MountainView Collegiate on Sunday, as the team finished in second place out of 13 teams with a score of 871 (+7).
The impressive play saw the team finish ahead of five teams ranked above the Aggies on GolfStat (Houston, Kansas State, Missouri, Oklahoma and UNLV).
Team play saw four Aggies finish in the top-20, led by
Pun Chanachai with rounds of 70-74-69—213 (-3) finishing in a tie for 3rd. Also in the top-10 with Chanachai was
Camille Orito who tied for seventh posting totals of 70-73-73—216 (E).
Dominique Galloway and
Kristen Cline tied for 20th as they each posted a three-round total of 221 (+5). Rounding out the Aggie starters was
Maria Prado who posted a 235 (+19) which put the Aggie in a tie for 60th.
Kennedie Montoya, competing as an individual, had a 54-hole score of 229 (+13) to finish in a tie for 52nd.
At the completion of the weekend invitational, Arizona took home first place with a score of 850 (-14), while the Aggies grabbed second at 871 (+7) and Houston rounded out the top three with a three-round total of 874 (+10).
The Aggies look to carry the momentum into the team's next tournament at the Hawkeye 'El Tigre' Invitational in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, April 2-4.
