Final Results
SAN ANTONIO – The New Mexico State men's golf team completed a two-day, three-round event at the Lone Star Invitational in San Antonio, Texas on Monday. The team's play on Briggs Ranch Golf Course saw them finish in 15th place out of 15 with a 54-hole score of 892 (+28).
Leading the play for the Aggies was
Luis Medina who posted totals of 76-71-71—218 (+2) to finish in a tie for 41st. Just behind Medina was
Ryo Harada finishing with his best round on the final day with scores of 73-75-71—219 (+3), putting the freshman in a tie for 47th.
Another freshman,
Jack Snyder, fired rounds of 75-74-76—225 (+9) to complete the invitational in a tie for 67th.
Isaac Merry put up totals of 74-74-82—230 (+14) to place in a tie for 74th. Rounding out the NM State lineup,
Michael McGilton posted scores over two days of 77-82—82—241 (+25) which put him in 78th.
Through 54 holes, Medina led the Aggies firing 10 birdies over two days, followed by
Isaac Merry and
Ryo Harada with nine apiece.
Jack Snyder added eight and McGilton posted five.
After the Lone Star Invitational wrapped up, No. 15 Oklahoma took home first place honors with a score of 824 (-40), followed by No. 7 Illinois in second at 828 (-36) and Mississippi State filled out the top three posting a total of 837 (-13).
New Mexico State men's golf will return to action at the Aggie Invitational on the Traditions Golf Course in Bryan, Texas, March 31-April 2.
