EL PASO, TEXAS -  The New Mexico State track and field team competed at the UTEP Springtime meet on Saturday. Two Aggies finished atop the podium as Kayli Farmer and Akuadasuo Ezenyilimba took first place in their respective events.
"We had an assortment of good performances as several people performed in different events," interim co-head coach Larry Carmichael said. "Overall, it was a good outing for us. We're on our way to some better things."
Farmer won the javelin as the junior threw 44.06 meters (144-7), a new personal record, to claim the first place..
Ezenyilimba placed first in the hammer throw as the senior threw 52.17 meters (171- 2.25) on her first attempt to win the event.
In the high jump. Farmer and Keyarha Wilson placed second and third, respectively. Farmer jumped 1.68 meters (5-6) while Wilson followed closely behind with a jump of 1.63 meters (5-4.25).
LaShya Cole placed third in the long jump as the junior jumped 5.82 meters (19 1.25).
On the track, Crissey Amberg finished third in the 800 meters as she clocked in at 2:12.90. In the 1500 meters, Cassey Amberg placed fourth with a time of 4:52.35.
NM State is back in action on Friday, March 31, as the team travels to Austin, Texas, for the Texas Relays.
