DENVER – The Western Athletic Conference announced the golfer of the week honors on Wednesday morning. New Mexico State men's golfer Ryo Harada earned the honor for the first time in his Aggie career.
Harada led NM State to their best team finish this year, tying for third at the Jim West Intercollegiate in Bastrop, Texas April 10-11. The freshman took home the first place title at the tournament after posting scores of 71-65—136 (-8).
The second round score of 65 is a career-high for Harada, a team-high for the Aggies this season and ties a record for the lowest round score at the Jim West Intercollegiate. Harada finished with a tournament leading nine birdies over 36 holes.
The Jim West Intercollegiate concluded the regular season for the NM State men's golf. The men now get set for the WAC Championships, April 28-30, in Mesa, Ariz.
