LOS ANGELES, and AZUSA, CALIF. - The New Mexico State track and field team competed at the Cal State LA Twilight Open and the Bryan Clay Invitational on Thursday.Â
"We had good performances in distance races, sprints, throws and jumps today," co-interim head coach Larry Carmichael said. "We look forward to tomorrow with anticipation."
On the field at the Cal State LA Twilight Classic, Taylor Stutely placed fourth in the shot put as she finished with a mark of 12.58m (41-3.25). Jocelyn Jordan placed third in the triple jump as she jumped 11.32m (37-1.5) on her second attempt. In the high jump, Hannah Smith and Kayli Farmer both jumped 1.59m (5-2.5).
The 4x100m relay team of Tanisha Scott, Katara Nelson, Lashira Tremble, and Dominique Joiner placed third as they set a new season record clocking in at 46.33. Scott also placeded in fifth in the 100m as she finished with a time of 12.14. Ashleyann Hall finished with a time of 2:15.78 to claim fifth in the 800m.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational, two Aggies finished in the top-10 of their respective heats. Stephanie Quintero finished in second in her heat as she clocked in at 17:59.69. Nicole Gomez placed 10th in her heat as she finished with a time of 18:53.89.
NM State continues its run at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday with the women's long jump beginning at 9 a.m. (MT).
