LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's golf team travels to Arroyo Grande, Calif. for the Cal Poly Shootout, April 17-18, on Cypress Ridge Golf Course. After the recent rain out of the Aggies previous tournament, the team was able to add the 10-team tournament in California to close out the regular season.
Along with NM State and host Cal Poly, the Aggies are joined on the links by Belhaven, CSU Bakersfield, CSUN, Long Beach State, North Dakota State, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara and Weber State.
The starting lineup traveling for NM State includes Davis Chung, Ryo Harada, Michael McGilton, Luis Medina, Isaac Merry and Jack Snyder. Medina currently paces the team with a stroke average of 73.47 over 30 rounds of play.
Scoring for the Cal Poly Shootout features a minor change compared to the team's previous tournaments. This event allows each team to play six golfers and the team's total will be added up with their top-5 scores, as opposed to a play-five and count-four scoring system. Live score updates for the tournament can be found on BirdieFire.
The shootout tees off with the first two rounds beginning at 9:30 a.m. MT on Monday, April 17, followed by the final round slated for Tuesday, April 18, at 9 a.m. The Cypress Ridge Golf Course is a par-72, 6,815 yard layout.
After the regular season wraps up on April 18, NM State men's golf then heads to Mesa, Ariz. for the WAC Championships, April 28-30.
