LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State softball looks to add to its five-game winning streak as the Aggies host No. 1 Arizona in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. (MT) on Tuesday, March 18. The first game of the doubleheader will be broadcast on the WAC Digital Network.

WEEKLY WARRIOR
Alexis Maynez, was named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Maynez hit .833 with three extra-base hits and two RBI last week. She recorded an exceptional 1.833 slugging percentage and a .833 on-base clip. She hit the game-ending home run in the fifth inning in the Aggies' 8-0 shutout of UMKC on Saturday. Maynez also hit a double and a triple in the series finale.
STEAL CITY
Rachel Rodriguez stole her 15th base of the season last weekend against UMKC. With the steal, Rodriguez is third all-time in the NM State record books for career stolen bases (62). She needs one stolen base to tie the second place record and needs two steals to take second place outright.
WHERE IN THE WAC
The Aggies enter the doubleheader with a .318 batting average which ranks 21st in the NCAA. NM State leads the WAC with 34 home runs and 52 stolen bases as a team. Rachel Rodriguez leads the league with 15 stolen bases. Kelsey Horton leads the conference in batting average (.449), on-base percentage (.511), total bases (93) and home runs (9).
In conference play alone, New Mexico State posts a league leading .353 batting average and a .621 slugging percentage. The team also leads the WAC with 15 home runs, 65 runs scored, 83 hits, and 58 runs batted in. Horton leads all players with a .615 batting average and a 1.269 slugging percentage in conference play.
LAST TIME OUT
The Aggies swept UMKC in a three-game home series and run-ruled the Roos in both games of the doubleheader. In the 8-0 victory, Victoria Castro and Alexis Maynez each had a home run in the game. Maynez hit a two-run long ball over the left field fence to end the game in the fifth inning.
In the series finale, Castro hit her another homer as she went 2-for-3 and had three RBI in the run-rule victory. Samaria Diaz pitched a complete game to earn her 10th win of the season. She struck out five and only allowed two walks.
KNOW YOUR FOE: NO. 1 ARIZONA
Arizona enters the series with an impressive 41-3 record. The Wildcats are the first team this season to reach 40 wins. In its last series, Arizona was handed back-to-back losses for the first time this season as the Wildcats were defeated by Utah 6-3 and 3-2.
Arizona enters the series a 1.03 team ERA, which ranks second in the nation. Danielle O'Toole leads the Wildcats in the circle. as she is 22-2 with a 0.87 ERA. She has recorded 19 complete games and six shutouts this season. On offense, Mo Mercado leads the team with a .417 batting average. The senior has started all 44 games for Arizona and leads the team with 10 doubles
NM State enters the series with a 5-55 all-time record against the Wildcats. The Aggies went 0-2 last season against Arizona. In the 10-2 loss, Victoria Castro hit a solo home run. Rachel Rodriguez also scored in the game as Amy Bergeson grounded out to the Wildcats'Â shortstop to bring Rodriguez home.

Following Tuesday's doubleheader, NM State travels to take on CSU Bakersfield in a three-game series. The series opener begins on Friday at 3 p.m. (MT).
