ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – The New Mexico State men's golf team wrapped up its 2017 regular season at the Cal Poly Shootout on Tuesday. The team finished in fourth place with a three-round total of 1088 (+8) in the play-six, score-five tournament setting.
Play for the NM State was led by Luis Medina who took home second place honors, the senior's best finish of the year. Medina posted scores of 65-68-76—209 (-7) and fired a tournament-leading 16 birdies.
Michael McGilton had rounds of 74-69-71 for a tournament total of 214 (-2) to finish in a tie for 13th. Ryo Harada rounded out the Aggies in the top-25 with scores of 78-71-73—220 (+4) to tie for 24th at the end of the tournament.
Davis Chung shot a 77-68-78—223 (+7) to put the Aggie in a tie for 27th. Isaac Merry posted rounds of 75-74-75—224 (+8) which tied him for 30th and Jack Snyder completed the NM State lineup with scores of 77-72-78—227 (+11) to tie for 39th.
On the team leaderboard, UC Santa Barbara ran away with first place after posting a score of 1058 (-22), followed by UC Irvine in second at 1082 (+2) and host Cal Poly in third with a tournament total of 1083 (+3).
The Cal Poly Shootout completed the regular season for New Mexico State men's golf and the team now travels to Mesa, Ariz. for the WAC Championship, April 28-30.
