LAS CRUCES N.M. - New Mexico State track and field travels to compete at the UTEP Invitational on Saturday, March 22.
"We look forward to our second meet of the season at Kidd Field on the UTEP campus. As this is the closest meet there is for our team, it provides a great opportunity for many parents and fans to see our athletes in action," interim co-head coach Larry Carmichael said. "Our team has been training hard and steadily improving, as many of our athletes are near to or at the very top of the WAC Performance list in several events."
NM State comes into the UTEP Invitational with momentum as many Aggies set personal and seasonal records in their previous meet. Crissey Amberg set a new school record in the 1,500m as she finished with a time of 4:25.37. Amberg received Western Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors for her efforts. Kayli Farmer threw a season best in the javelin as she finished with a mark of 45.02m (147-8).
Field events at the UTEP Invitational begin at 10 a.m. (MT) with the women's hammer throw. The women's 4x100m relay starts the running events at 2 p.m.
