MESA, Ariz. – The New Mexico State men's golf squad completed the first round of play at the WAC Championship on Longbow Golf Course. Friday's opening day of competition at the conference tournament saw the Aggies finish in fourth place out of seven with an 18-hole total of 299 (+15).
Two Aggie golfers sit in the top-10 at the conclusion of round one. Team play is led by
Michael McGilton who sits in a tie second after carding a 69 (-2). That is followed by
Luis Medina with a round score of 73 (+2) to put the senior in a tie for seventh. McGilton leads NM State with four birdies and Medina added two.
Isaac Merry was in third on the NM State squad after firing a 78 (+7) to complete day one in a tie for 27th.
Jack Snyder posted a 79 (+8) to tie for 29th and
Ryo Harada rounded out the group of Aggie golfers with an 82 (+11) which puts him in 35th.
Heading into the second day of competition at the WAC Championship, Seattle U is in first place with a score of 290 (+6), Utah Valley sits in second at 295 (+11) and UMKC completes the top three after carding a 298 (+14).
