IRVINE, CALIF. Â -Â New Mexico State track and field performed well at the Steve Scott Invitational on Friday. Kayli Farmer set a new personal record in the javelin which ranks second all-time at NM State.
"Kayli Farmer's first place finish in the javelin was the highlight of the day,"  interim co-head coach Larry Carmichael said. "Not only did she improve her seasonal record, she threw an all-time personal best."
Farmer won the javelin when she threw 47.94m (157-3.25). Alyssa Covarrubia also competed in the event, finishing in ninth with a mark of 37.03m (121-06). Akuadasuo Ezenyilimba took ninth in the hammer throw when she threw 50.90m (167-00).
On the track, Elana Kresl placed ninth in the 3,000m steeplechase as she clocked in at 11:14.86. Corinne Hanson followed behind in tenth with a time of 11:21.32. Â
The Steve Scott Invitational continues on Saturday, April 29, at 1 p.m. (MT) with the men's 4x100m relay. Field events begin at 1:15 p.m. with the women's shot put.
