MESA, Ariz. – The New Mexico State men's golf team wrapped up their season at the WAC Championship on Sunday. The team posted a three-round total of 879 (+27) to finish in third place at the conference championship.
Team play was led by
Michael McGilton who placed in a tie for fifth after firing a 69-73-74--216 (+3). That was followed by
Luis Medina who carded a 73-72-72--217 (+4) to put the senior in seventh.
Ryo Harada moved into 22nd place after posting the best third round score on the Aggies with a 68 (-3) to finish with a 224 (+11) after 54 holes of play.
Isaac Merry finished just behind Harada with round totals of 78-74-73—225 (+12) to complete the event in a tie for 23rd.
Jack Snyder rounded out the NM State squad with scores of 79-78-77—234 (+21) which put the freshman in 30th.
The NM State squad played the best golf of all seven competing teams at the tournament on the par-5 with a stroke average of 4.89. McGilton and Snyder led the Aggies in birdies with 9 apiece after the three-day event.
Seattle U won the WAC Championship with a 54-hole team score of 867 (+15). UMKC finished in second place at 871 (+19) and NM State took home third with a score of 879 (+27).
