Christofer Goncalves and
Mauri Benitez of the NM State men's tennis team along with
Enrique Asmar and
Sergi Espias of the Aggie no. 3 doubles team were named to the Western Athletic Conference All-Tournament team on Tuesday.

The all-tournament is voted on by the league coaches after the conclusion of the championships this past weekend in Las Cruces, N.M.

Goncalves went 1-0 at the conference tournament, taking down UMKC's Airam Castellano 6-3, 6-2 at the top singles position. He was ahead of Chicago State's Jiri Nouza 7-5 before it was abandoned when NM State clinched the match 4-0. The reigning WAC Player of the Year wrapped up his season 26-6 in singles play and 16-4 in dual action – all of which came at the top singles position.

Benitez won both matches at the conference championships, including a critical victory at No. 6 singles over Vinh Pham to tie the match up at 3-3. In his semifinal match against CSU's Cody Wurzelbacher, Benitez breezed past his opponent with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. The wins moved Benitez to 20-9 on the year in singles play and 11-6 in dual play.

In addition,
Enrique Asmar and Espias earned all-tournament honors for NM State despite abandoning both of their matches at the conference championship. The Aggie due was in the lead against Chicago State and trailed UMKC when their matches were abandoned. The pair wrapped up their season 16-11 in doubles play and 11-7 in dual action.
