DENVER – New Mexico State women's soccer goalkeeper
Dmitri Fong continues to raise the bar as she was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Western Athletic Conference on Monday. This is the second straight week she has held this title.
Fong continues to lead the defensive line as the Aggies are off to its best start in program history with a 3-0-1 record. During week two of competition, Fong earned back-to-back shutouts against Battle of I-25 rival, New Mexico, and Grambling State. In the match against New Mexico, Fong racked up seven saves and faced 18 shots that ultimately led the Aggies to a 1-0 victory. On the road at Grambling State, she faced eight shots and had five saves that helped guide the team to a 1-0 win. In the NCAA rankings, Fong is tied for second overall in shutouts (2) and tied for 11
th in total saves (27).
NM State remains on the road as they face Colorado State on Sept. 1 at 4 p.m., followed by Northern Colorado at noon on Sept. 3.
