SPRINGVILLE, UTAH. – New Mexico State women's golf won the 2017 Hobble Creek Fall Classic on Tuesday with a 54-hole score of 866 (+14). This is the second straight year the Aggies have won in the season opener (Red Raider Invitational, 2016).
Play was led by Pun Chanchai who took home individual medalist honors after shooting 69-66-69—204 (-9). Chanachai's impressive play featured 14 birdies which led the field.
Dominique Galloway finished in fifth with scores of 70-71-72—213 (E) which included firing the only eagle for the Aggies in the two-day event.
Kennedie Montoya fired a 74-74-73—221 (+8) which placed the senior in a tie for 10
th.
Maria Prado had her best round of the tournament on Tuesday after shooting a 76 which put her tournament total at 232 (+19) and put the golfer in a tie for 36
th.
Angela Xu rounded out the squad in a tie for 42
nd with scores of 75-77-81—233 (+20).
The Aggies team score of 866 (+14) put them atop the leaderboard at the end of the three-round competition and the team was followed by Oral Roberts at 869 (+17) and Utah Valley in third with a score of 880 (+28).
NM State gets a short break following the victory as they return to action at the Col. Wollengerg's Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Colo. from Sept. 17-19.
