Women’s Golf Tied for Seventh after Day One

NM State women’s golf sits in a tie for seventh after round one at the 15-team Ram Classic

FORT COLLINS, COLO. – The New Mexico State women's golf team completed the first of three days of competition at the Colonel Wollengerg's Ptarmigan Ram Classic on Sunday. Through the first 18 holes, the Aggies sit in a tie for seventh out of 15 teams with a team score of 294 (+6) and have three golfers in the top-20 on the individual leaderboard.
 
Pun Chanachai has led the charge for NM State after firing a 70 (-2) on day one to which puts the sophomore in fifth. Dominique Galloway and Tiegan Taylor each shot a one-over, 73, to tie for 18th. Taylor, competing in her first event as an Aggie, tied Chanachai for the team lead with four birdies in the first round.
 
Rounding out the Aggie lineup was Kennedie Montoya and Maria Prado who each fired a 78 (+6) and are tied for 65th.
 
Heading into day two, UC Irvine sits atop the leaderboard with a score of 285 (-3), followed by Indiana in second at one-under, 287, and San Francisco completes the top-three with a team total of 289 (+1).
 
The second round of play begins on Monday, Sept. 18, at 8 a.m. MT. Live stats for the tournament can be followed on GolfStat.
