RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – The New Mexico State men's golf team completed the two-day, three round USD Intercollegiate on Tuesday. After 72 holes of play the Aggies finished in seventh out of 11 teams with a score of 911 (+14).
Team play was led by
Ryo Harada and
Michael McGilton who tied for 30
th after each fired a 230 (+10). Harada and McGilton also tied with a team-high 32 holes for par at tournament's end.
Isaac Merry who led the team with 10 birdies finished in a tie for 33
rd with a three-round total of 227 (+11).
Athur Doorn came in a tie for 44
th after shooting a 73-79-80—232 (+16).
Tadhg Campbell rounded out the NM State starters with round scores of 82-79-80—241 (+25) to tie for 65
th.
Cooper Donahue, competing as an individual, finished in 73
rd with a total of 250 (+34).
A tight race for first saw San Francisco take home first place at the USD Intercollegiate with a team score of 871 (+7). No. 21 UCLA and No. 25 Santa Clara tied for second at 872 (+8). Cal Poly took fourth after firing 874 (+10) and UC Riverside completed the top-five shooting a 877 (+13).
New Mexico State is back in action at the National Invitational Tournament, Feb. 26-27, at the Omni Tucson National Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz.
