SAN ANTONIO – The New Mexico State men's golf team wrapped up the first day of play at the Lone Star Invitational at Briggs Ranch Golf Course on Monday. A strong first two rounds of play has the Aggies in a tie for fourth with a team score of 581 (+5).
Team play for NM State has been led by
Isaac Merry who sits in a tie for sixth after firing a 71-71—142 (-2). Merry also fired the only eagle for the Aggies on day one.
Ryo Harada finished day one in a tie for 20
th with scores of 74-71—145 (+1).
Tadhg Campbell proceeded to fire a 73-74—147 (+3) to head into day tow tied for 33
rd.Newcomer
Tristin Goodwin followed up with a 72-77—149 (+5) to tie for 43
rd.
Michael McGilton rounded out the Aggie starting lineup firing a 78-75-153 (+9) to tie for 62
nd.
After two rounds of action No. 11 Oklahoma sits in first place with a team score of 565 (-11), followed by UTEP and Arkansas State tied for second at 578 (+2), with NM State tied with Little Rock and host UT San Antonio at 581 (+5).
The third and final round of play at the Lone Star Invitational begins on March 20 with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. MT.
